Travel Bucket List

I’m pretty sure everyone has been daydreaming about all the places we want to go to once it’s completely safe to do so. I’m aware some people have started traveling again internationally, but I don’t want to risk it. When we make it through this pandemic, I highly encourage everyone to take a nice vacation for some fun and R&R, we all deserve it. So, I decided to make a list & share a few of the places I want to experience.

In no particular order:

1. Montego Bay, Jamaica.

We were just starting to plan a family girls trip to Jamaica before the pandemic hit so, I definitely can’t wait to make this trip finally happen. South of Cuba, and to the west of Haiti. From white sand beaches to the intoxicating sounds of Reggae beats, Jamaica is a hot spot for a friends trip or a sexy baecation. Jamaica is also home to the late Bob Marley, Usain Bolt, and many others.

2. Sedona, Arizona.

I would love to get my feet wet in solo-traveling by going to Sedona for a self care retreat. Sedona is the city of spiritual healing so there’s no shortage of spas. There’s beautiful nature parks, canyons, with hundreds of hiking and biking trails, and the popular sightseeing jeep tours. I think I would prefer going in early to mid autumn, summer’s out west are just too hot for me.

3. Havana, Cuba.

My ultimate dream vacation destination. Cuba is so rich in culture, food and music. For a long time Americans weren’t allowed to travel here but the ban has since been lifted (with restrictions, I believe). I would really like to try a Cuban cigar, maybe take a salsa class, drive an old classic car, and maybe bump into Assata Shakur (if she’s still there). If you know your history, Assata Shakur was granted political asylum in Cuba after escaping from prison in America.

4. Costa Rica.

Situated between Nicaragua and Panama, Cost Rica is lush greenery and beaches galore. Costa Rica is best known for their cultivation of coffee (which I love!), various wildlife sanctuaries, rainforests, and adventure sports. Also, I love that Costa Rica has treehouse hotels and Airbnb’s you can rent out which are the perfect combination of nature and luxury. For example, check out The Greenhouse.

5. Iceland.

Who says you always have to go somewhere hot for vacation?. Places with a colder climate can be a lot of fun too. I think Iceland is very intriguing with it’s geological and volcanic activeness. Located in the North Atlantic Ocean, and acts as a border between North America and Europe. From the beautiful northern lights and relaxing in the blue lagoon to hiking snowy mountains and skiing down glaciers.

6. Trinidad & Tobago.

The southernmost island country in the Caribbean. Trinidad and Tobago is the ultimate Caribbean carnival destination. Every year in February, preceding ash Wednesday thousands of people come to the island for carnival to play mas or just to enjoy the parade and party festivities. I am a soca music and carnival fanatic so I know I will love Trinidad. I can’t wait to try some fresh cooked authentic Chicken Roti – Trini style.

7. Cape Town, South Africa.

The second most popular city in South Africa, following Johannesburg. Cape Town is known as the “mother city”. You will never get bored. There’s safari tours, penguin colonies, beaches, shopping, museums, and a bustlin’ nightlife. I was really drawn to the colorful architecture and cobblestone streets as well. Check out: Bo-Kaap.

8. London, England.

When I think of London, I think of British accents, the Spice Girls, luxury, those cute red telephone booths, and lots of shopping. London has a lot of cultural/historical tours, museums, theaters, and popular sightseeing attractions like The London Eye, Tower of London, and witnessing the Changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace. I’d be sure to pack a fancy trench coat for splash of bougie aesthetic.

9. Paris, France.

Further south of London, you will end up in Paris, France. I wouldn’t mind combining both trips. Going to London and then catching a flight to Paris. Both seem like you would need some serious cash to spend. Depending on what you really want to do, I don’t think these two destinations are budget friendly vacation spots. Just like London there are cultural/historical tours, museums, art galleries, theater shows, shopping, etc. And of course, popular sightseeing spots like the Eiffel Tower and the Cathedrale Notre-Dame de Paris. Imagine taking a romantic evening champagne cruise on the Paris Seine River.

10. Spain.

To the southwest of France, you will end up in Spain. From Ibiza, Barcelona, Madrid, Malaga, Seville, Valencia, and Cartagena, there’s so many popular places to choose from. I once considered doing an abroad intensive Spanish program in Spain with DonQuijote. It’s still very much a dream of mine. Unlike Paris and London, in Spain, you get the cultural and historical tours, but more outdoor activities and beautiful beaches. You can learn to surf in Fuerteventura, and party it up in Ibiza. One cathedral I would love to see is the Basilica of the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona.

11. Bali, Indonesia.

South of Asia and north of Australia you will find the city of Bali. Bali has a lot of nature and wildlife to see including the sacred monkey sanctuary. There are waterfalls, forests, tours, water sports, beaches, plenty of shopping markets, and the big jungle swing (pictured below). You can live out your Tarzan dreams of swinging through the jungles.

12. Rio De Janerio, Brazil.

Not only do I love the Portuguese language, but Brazil is rich in art, culture, and food. Rio is located to the southeastern part of the tropical zone of South America, and is Brazils third largest state after Sao Paulo and Minas Gerais. There’s plenty of sunny beaches, surf lessons, rock climbing, cultural tours, cooking classes, samba dance classes, botanical gardens, and more. The Sugarloaf Mountain is a popular attraction to see too.

13. Winter Getaway to The Pocono Mountains in Stroudsburg, PA.

I live right below Pennsylvania in Maryland and I’ve never been to the Poconos. But I would love to go during Christmas time, rent a cabin, get snowed in, and roast s’mores. There are plenty of activities all year round like bird watching, zip lining, skiing, hiking, biking, canoeing, parasailing, and white water rafting. I would love to grab a couple of friends or close family and just have a ball.

14. Universal- Orlando, Florida.

I’m a big kid when it comes to amusement parks. I love the thrill of rollercoasters even though I’m scared of heights, the adrenaline rush is unmatched. I been to Disneyworld when I was a kid but I don’t remember much. I never been to Universal though so I would definitely stay for at least a week at the resort to get the full Universal experience.

15. Santorini, Greece.

Greece is located in Southeast, Europe. Santorini is one of the most popular and well known spots to visit in Greece with its fine dining, beautiful villages, white sand beaches with turquoise water, wineries, and picturesque sunsets. I think this is the perfect honeymoon destination, it literally exudes romance.

Where do you want to travel to next? Have you been to any of these places? I can’t wait to get away from Baltimore!

Till next time,
